LifeCell Dx is the first laboratory in the world to offer advanced testing of live sperm through the Internet. Doctors’ offices, hospital labs and reference labs can now be trained to send digital files of living sperm to the central LifeCell Dx laboratory in Buffalo, NY. As the files come in from any country of the world, expert sperm specialists (andrologists) can quickly analyze the distant semen samples using computer tracking methods. These satellite sites can serve infertile couples who are far away from the top infertility clinics.
In the United States alone, the potential consumer base exceeds 7 million. Worldwide, the numbers are over 50 million infertile males. About 20% of all younger couples suffer from infertility.
“Current diagnostics are limited and test results from a basic semen analysis will not tell the male if he could produce a pregnancy. Typically a basic test does not give couples enough information to make informed choices. They may be asking, ‘Can I get a clear answer about my sperm before I have to consider donor sperm, or adoption, or in vitro fertilization?’ In vitro fertilization (IVF) serves only 5 to 10% of the infertile population, and it is usually expensive and emotionally-draining. Most cities in the U.S. do not have an IVF clinic. This means that 90% of the infertile couples are forced to accept a basic semen analysis. Our e-fertility company intends to serve many of those couples who want a choice. Some of them are desperate for answers,” stated Dr. Burkman.
The LifeCell Dx report relies on proprietary methods to show whether the male’s sperm are behaving like fertile sperm.
Founded by internationally recognized scientist, Dr. Lani J. Burkman, LifeCell Dx was created based on years of human sperm research and experience as Director of a local Andrology Laboratory. Andrology is a branch of medicine concerned with sperm treatment and evaluating male fertility.
LifeCell Dx is in full operation and certified by the Department of Health. Plans for expansion in strategic parts of the United States are already underway. For more information, call (866) 999-3296 or visit www.lifecelldx.com.
