FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Denver, Colorado, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) July 6, 2011 -- Denver, Colo. July 6, 2011 – Greenworks Video, a Green Screen video production studio located in Denver, announces a tie between Who is amy? and The Matthew Shepard Foundation as the inaugural June winners of the Lights, Camera, Vote for a Cause! year-long video contest for Colorado nonprofit organizations, which launched in June.

Who is amy? (www.whoisamy.org), an organization that raises funds for medical research and promotes awareness of the life-threatening blood disease amyloidosis, and The Matthew Shepard Foundation (www.matthewshepard.org), which raises public awareness about gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender hate crimes, will both receive a custom-made video produced by Greenworks Video’s Emmy award winning writer-director Brian Doubleday and veteran editor Jim McConnell. Both nonprofits were passionate about the contest and garnered hundreds of votes, promoting the contest through their blogs, websites and social media sites.

“We are delighted and grateful for the opportunity to have a professional video developed for our cause,” said Becca Barry, Founder and President of Who is amy?. “The video will aid us in spreading awareness of amyloidosis through all channels of our marketing.”

"We are enormously grateful to Greenworks and to their fans for their votes,” said Jason Marsden, Executive Director of the Matthew Shepherd Foundation. “The new video comes at a perfect time, as we are currently expanding our educational outreach and resource programs. This will give us a great opportunity to reach a wider audience with our work to Erase Hate."

Each month, three selected charities from Colorado will participate in the video contest, which is being held on Greenworks Video’s Facebook page: http://on.fb.me/GreenworksVideoSupportsNonProfits. The public will vote on the charity they like most and the one with the most votes at the end of the month will win a Gold video package from Greenworks Video, valued at $699. The package includes a 60 to 120 second video using Green Screen technology (which is used to create elaborate effects in Hollywood movies) and post-production techniques which can be used to create 3-Dimensional effects with just about any set imaginable. The videos can help the organizations communicate their cause on their websites, through public service announcements, or for fundraising and event promotion.

The July participants are Educate!, an organization that empowers Ugandan youth through education and leadership programs, Denver’s Road Home, which has implemented a 10 year plan to end homelessness in Denver by 2015, and EarthLinks, a Colorado based nonprofit that connects homeless and low-income adults with work programs that provide them with the skills to sustain themselves and the planet.

At the end of the yearlong contest, Greenworks Video will select a Grand Prize winner who will receive a sponsored fundraiser held at Greenworks Video’s Downtown Denver studios. All of the proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly to the Grand Prize winning charity.
