Olympus Event Management Ltd (OEM) sets high targets for the next Limassol Marathon GSO on the 20th February 2011

The 2011 Limassol Marathon GSO will take place on the 20th February 2011. Everyone who is keen on sports is invited to participate in the Marathon, Half-Marathon, Atlantica Limassol 10 KM Race, 2 KM Kids Fun Run or the 5 KM Charity Walk. As the organizer, OEM is working hard to increase the participation in comparison to previous years, and to establish Limassol Marathon GSO amongst the most popular in Europe.

After the successful marathon event held on 28th February 2010 with over 1,400 entrants coming from more than 20 countries, OEM envisages a running adventure for young and old in 2011. “With the support of our partners we want to grow this fascinating event for Limassol and Cyprus as a whole, and establish the Limassol Marathon GSO amongst the leading marathons of Europe”, says Spyros Spyrou, Managing Director of Olympus Event Management Ltd.

Many International organisations have acknowledged Cyprus as having an ideal environment for athletic events and various Olympic Associations have chosen the 3rd largest island in the Mediterranean Sea as their official training destination. As the only official marathon in Cyprus the Limassol Marathon GSO is accredited and approved by IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations) and AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races).

“Run along the waves” – this is not only a claim, it’s a promise for the participants of the Limassol Marathon GSO on the 20th February 2011. The major course runs along the coastal road of Limassol with amazing views to the sea.

It is essentially a flat race with its major characteristic being the long straight lines. All in all, Limassol Marathon GSO offers a marvelous opportunity for experienced marathon runners to achieve Personal Best times, and for first timers to have every chance of success. With a temperature in-between 15 and 17 degrees, February in Cyprus is the optimum month for such an athletic experience.

About Limassol Marathon GSO

Limassol Marathon was founded by Gymnastic Sports the Olympia (GSO). As the only official marathon in Cyprus the Limassol Marathon GSO is accredited and approved by IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations) and AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races) and furthermore it is the official marathon race of the Cyprus Sports Association (KOEAS).

In June 2009 GSO has passed the race to Olympus Event Management Ltd, Limassol. In 2010 more than 1,400 runners from over 20 countries participated in the Limassol Marathon. The 5th Limassol Marathon GSO takes place on the 20th February 2011 and it will include the Marathon, Half-Marathon, Atlantica Limassol 10 KM Race, 10 KM Corporate Race, 2 KM Kids Fun Run and 5 KM Charity Walk.
