LinkedIn Jobs Search: Getting Started on LinkedIn

I created my profile on LinkedIn in 2006. One of my friends sent me an invitation, I accepted it and that’s how I started my journey on LinkedIn.
I used LinkedIn for professional networking and job search initially. Since 2008, I’ve been using it for business development, networking with like minded people, group discussions, researching the opportunities and of course for promotion.

LinkedIn jobs search is one of the important ways of using LinkedIn.
But…
Before you start on LinkedIn, have a strategy.
First, decide your objective to join LinkedIn—whether it’s for LinkedIn jobs search, business development or hiring.
Once you’re sure about your strategy, you can focus on these three things.
1. Your Background

Each one of us has exclusive background that we use in daily life. You may be a Software Engineer or a Financial Analyst, your background—education, skills, culture, knowledge, interests, family—is different and exclusive. When we talk of personal brand, this background comes into picture. Your personal brand will be strong if you background is strong. You’ll use this unique background to achieve your goal on LinkedIn.
2. Your Contacts
If I ask you to take a minute and tell me your contacts, you will tell me your friendships plus business relationships. You’re more likely to tell me the names of people whom you’ve met personally. You know this is your network and you can use it whenever you need it.
3. LinkedIn
LinkedIn is a tool which helps you use your background and contacts brilliantly. It takes time to understand how to use LinkedIn for your goal and if you are persistent and dedicated, I’m sure you will be able to use LinkedIn and achieve your goal soon.
