LISTA’S RICK NAJERA – “ONE NIGHT ONLY" VIP PERFORMANCE IN ATLANTA A HUGE SUCCESS

(Free-Press-Release.com) October 30, 2009 -- ATLANTA – More than 300 diplomats, young professionals and business owners joined the Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology Association (LISTA) to celebrate its 9th year anniversary during a “One Night Only” VIP performance featuring the Original Latin King of Comedy, Rick Najera. LISTA’s event, which coincided with Hispanic Heritage Month, was sponsored by State Farm, Macy’s Foundation, Coca-Cola and Staples.

LISTA, whose vision is to promote the utilization of the technology sectors for the empowerment and education of the Latino community, hosted the event in Atlanta’s famed Rialto Center for the Arts at Georgia State University on Thursday, October 22 2009.

“LISTA’s Special Events blend crucial support and awareness of our goals with fun experiences that our community can relate to and enjoy with friends and families,” said Jose Marquez, Founder and President of LISTA. “Most importantly, we design all of our events to raise awareness of the need for Latinos to enter the fields of science and technology thus bridging the technological divide that exists among the Latino community.”

During the event, Rick Najera performed his newest play, the award winning DADDY DIARIES. DADDY DIARIES is a comedic live stage play that tells the story of a “Hollywood guy” becoming “daddy guy” from a Latino perspective. During much of the play, Najera’s character is haunted by the voice of his Mexican father ringing in his head – an experience most Latinos can relate to.

LISTA worked with Najera for the event and collaborated exclusively with CNN in Atlanta to tape the production. Other Atlanta media was also present and covering the event, such as the Atlanta Jewish Times, Georgia State University Television, Good Day Atlanta and Real Atlanta Magazine, among others.
