Listen different: thoughts that move ideas that move action...
Recently somebody pointed me out that in the days following the death of Steve Jobs, in spite of his “Think different”, more than half of his fans proposed on Facebook the exact same profile photo.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) November 7, 2011 --
Somebody else pointed me out that in the same period the inventor of the pacemaker passed away but no one reported this news in spite of his discovery that was as revolutionary as Jobs’ one.
So, does this “Think different” really esist? Yes of course. It’s hidden inside of us, waiting for the right stimulus to come out. And it is also a virtuous circle: opinions and thoughts can provoke and stir in turn those of other people.
Moreover, thinking can become action. For example it happened at Impossible Brief, a recent project for international research of innovative ideas, launched during last Festival of Creativity in Cannes . Its goal was a tough one: to find alternative ideas in order to bring closer Israelis and Palestinians. «Creativity is the key to open every door (...), because it ignores the failure and give life where there was not.» These are words by Kevin Roberts, who developed this project. With this project, people has been stimulated and provoked and their proposals arrived from all over the world. «Of course,» Roberts said, «we know that we won’t get to the final solution, but everybody understands that flashes of creativity can be more inspiring than lots of logical processes or expressions of emotions.»
Listening is very important to get to new ideas : listening what other people have to say, asking them their points of view and looking for a dialogue. In SID Pills we try it too. And that’s what we’ll do even more in the coming months, giving the floor to the 40 SID designers selected on the occasion of the 20th years of our Institute: we’ve contacted them to tell us their experiences and projects. Reading the first interviews, which we’ll propose you with two posts a month, we can find people who are passionate and expert about their work, who believe in what they do and can also transmit their enthusiasm in a few words. Moreover, in their memories as students there are plenty of tips for new generations.
Well, maybe now you’re asking what is the winning idea of Impossible Brief! Jean-Cristophe Royer’s one: “Mutual Blood ”, that provides for a joint operation of blood transfusion between volunteeers of both the two countries... how could you kill somebody with the same blood of your people inside him? From thinking to a new idea, to test now in the real life.
