She may be the 12th richest woman in Britain but JK Rowling’s empire’s end is nowhere in sight. The writer went from living on benefits to a multi-millionaire in less than 5 years and now she has just announced her newest venture, a new site called "Pottermore” where, among other things, people will be able to purchase Harry Potter e-books for the first time. Pottermore will sell e-books directly to consumers, bypassing today's big e-books stores, Amazon's Kindle store and Apple's iBookstore the WSJ's Paul Sonne reports and LMC Marketing watch the next step in the fabulous entrepreneurs career.

Pottermore is likely to rake in further millions for the 45-year-old author – who is already said to be worth £626million – as it is the only place readers will be able to purchase the electronic versions of her books. The Daily Mail has reported that Miss Rowling insisted her main motivation was to give something back to her readers, she said: ‘I wanted to give something back to the fans that have followed Harry so devotedly over the years.

LMC Marketing thinks the main attraction for all avid fans will be the unpublished material that will feature on the online project. Miss Rowling has written 18,000 words of brand new material for the free-to-use site so far. The mother-of-three remarked on YouTube this week ‘I had more than half of the new material already written or in note form. I literally dug some out of boxes.’

The site that launches in October was more than two years in the making revealed Rowling ‘I knew there was a demand for e-books but I wanted it to be more than that. I wanted to pull it back to reading and the story experience,’ she said. The Pottermore site, which is run in conjunction with Sony, will sell all Harry Potter books, e-books and audiobooks in several languages. Growing in popularity last year’s sales of e-books jumped from £150million to £180million and the latest estimation released by Amazon.com is that it sell 100 e-books to every 120 printed books.

LMC Marketing think it will be no time at all till the world wide e-book sales take over the printed book sales and if Harry Potters previous popularity is anything to go by, Pottermore will have a large role to play in this takeover.
