Chicago, IL, July 1st, 2010 - - Chicago Author and Illustrator, Alexandra Gnoske, will be discussing and signing her new children’s book, Loui Saves the Earth, at Ranalli’s of Andersonville, for Andersonville Green Week, Tuesday, July 13th, from 5pm to 9pm and reading her book for children, Tuesday, July 13th at 10:30 and Saturday, July 17th at 11:00am, at Green Genes.
Ms. Gnoske takes her passion for nature and wildlife and turns it into an inspiring story with a simple message: children can make a difference for Planet Earth. She returns to Andersonville, where she grew up, to discuss her new book, Loui Saves the Earth, and her website, Be a Superhero for Planet Earth, that empowers children to help the planet by acknowledging the simple things they do.
“I’m really excited to be back in Andersonville where my life was shaped as a child, to help parents and other care-givers encourage their children to be environmentally responsible,” says Ms. Gnoske. “As I child Andersonville had everything we needed. We’d walk to the grocery store, baker, shoe store, school, bank, church, and park. We really didn’t get in our family car much.”
Even though she grew up in the city, Ms. Gnoske has always loved wildlife. She accredits this to frequent trips to the Lincoln Park Zoo, the backyard garden, and nature shows on PBS. These experiences inspired her to receive a bachelor in Wildlife Biology and law degree in Environmental Law. “Nature and wildlife, you can find anywhere, even the heart of Chicago,” she says.
Ms. Gnoske has many adventurous stories for Loui and Dusty to help the planet and hopes to inspire many little superheroes for Planet Earth. Her blog, www.louisavestheearth.com/blog, features stories about simple things children are doing to help the planet. She is also writing a book about the environmental impact of clothing.
You can find Ms. Gnoske reading and signing “Loui Saves the Earth” throughout Chicagoland. She will be reading her book at Green Genes in Andersonville, Uncommon Ground in Edgewater, Bellybum Boutique in North Center, and many other locations. She is also the owner of Recycle Me, an organic cotton clothing company.
