LOCAL CHURCH TO CELEBRATE 10TH ANNIVERSARY AND MAKE MARK ON CENTRAL NC

Durham, North Carolina, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) January 10, 2012 -- DURHAM, NC (1/9/12)-- Each January the newhope church community of faith gathers to celebrate milestones of the past year and Founding Pastor, Dr. Benji Kelley, uses this celebration time to cast the church’s vision for the course of the coming year, calling the anniversary event: Vision Day.

This January 22nd marks 10 years in the life of newhope church and Kelley and his staff have planned to pull out all the stops to make this Vision Day celebration newhope’s largest and most special to date. newhope has plenty to celebrate from 2011 – the church’s growth across central NC expanded the multi-site church to seven campuses, membership grew by 335 people (including 213 baptisms) and average Sunday attendance has increased to more than 3,000 among the campuses.
For Vision Day X the church has rented out the Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC), located at 123 Vivian Street in downtown Durham. The event is open to the community and will be free with plenty of free parking available. Thousands are expected to gather at the DPAC, as this celebration gives newhope members and attendees the rare opportunity to gather together under one roof for worship celebration.

Vision Day X will bring something different than the others before it. Themed, Make Your Mark, Pastor Kelley will challenge newhope for the next 10 years to make a difference in central North Carolina through service in the “newhope movement” centered around reaching people for Christ, teaching them the bible, and releasing fully-devoted followers to serve Christ through ministries. For months, newhope staff has been reaching out to area officials, dignitaries and organizations in Durham, Raleigh, Chapel Hill and Garner asking for their feed back on ways they might partner with “newhopers” to make positive changes in Central NC and beyond. newhope will present many options to all in attendance on Vision Day and kick-off 2012 in service with a Coats and Cans clothing and food drive at the January 22nd event.
In addition to Pastor Kelley’s powerful and relevant message, attendees can count on amazing music in a live contemporary worship set featuring newhope’s Worship Arts Ministry and special guest, nationally known spoken word artist, Amena Brown.

Doors will open at 9am with complimentary coffee, donuts and outdoor DJ before the service. The first 250 guests will receive free event t-shirts while enjoying the pre-service fellowship. Childcare will be provided for kids up to elementary age in the Bay 7 building adjoining DPAC and drop-off begins at 9:30am. The celebration officially kicks off at 9:45. Durham-area gourmet food trucks will be available for after-service lunch purchase.
