Local gospel artist releases new album with TMG

With a contemporary gospel feel and a strong, pop-worthy voice, Markee’s new album, “Not Worthy,” unites the genres seamlessly, as you’d expect from artists like Kirk Franklin or Jason Derulo.

Being a preacher's son, Richardson grew up in the church. He always had an interest in music because his father was not only was a dynamic preacher, but sang as a praise and worship leader. And that's all the motivation he needed. Richardson started singing at the age of five and wrote his first song at age six. In high school, he joined the choir, receiving honors for singing, but soon after graduation, he let his musical aspirations fall to the wayside.

From time to time, Richardson would sing, but his focus drifted onto other things like rent and groceries. In the early 90s, several relatives formed a choir called The Lewis Brothers and the Greater Works Chorale, a collective group of family and friends, in which Richardson had the opportunity to write and sing.

Throughout life's experiences, hardships, and disappointments, music has always been a part of Richardson's life. But just last year, a friend decided to help him to showcase his musical gift. The new project is that showcase, the beginning of a journey that Richardson invites listeners along to enjoy and to be inspired.
