Local Home-Based Businesses Expert Shares How Solo Business Owners Can Change Resolutions into Revolutions
Income creation specialist reveals how to make resolutions stick in business
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) December 23, 2011 --
NASHVILLE,TN – December 24, 2011 As eyes look forward to a new business year, many small business owners and solo entrepreneurs are hoping that 2012 will be the one that catapults them into success. But businesses often overlook a key element when making their business plans and resolutions, according to one local Solo-E.com Certified Expert.
“Most new solo businesses fail within three years – and it’s often due to the fact that many business owners think that simply hanging up an OPEN sign and placing an ad in the yellow pages will attract customers,” says Sue Painter, owner The Confident Marketer. “The key to success in 2012 is stop making resolutions turn them into revolutions.”
Founded in 2005, The Confident Marketer helps home-based and micro-businesses create income by focusing on creating strategic, low-cost marketing systems and repeat customer campaigns. Painter is one of 50 solo professionals who have met the requirements of the only international post-graduate certification program for solo entrepreneurs to become a Solo-E.com certified expert.
“We do use the wrong word – ‘resolution’ – to effect change in our lives and businesses,” explains Terri Zwierzynski, CEO and founder of Solo-E.com. “We should be using ‘revolution’ because a ‘resolution’ is only an intention, where a ‘revolution’ means taking massive action to change a current situation.”
Both Painter and Zwierzynski recommend a few tips to create revolutions in 2012 for home-based business owners and budding entrepreneurs who have small, micro-businesses:
• Create goals that are specific and measurable. “It’s not enough to say, ‘I want to market more next year ’ as we often say when we make a resolution,” explains Solo-E.com Certified Expert Painter. "Create goals that have an action plan for you to achieve very specific results.”
• Break down your goals into smaller do-able pieces. “How do you eat an elephant or even a revolution?” says Zwierzynski. “One bite at a time. So break down the goal into pieces you can do.”
• Make a plan. “Planning may sound boring, but it is the only way to make sure your goals get accomplished,” says Painter. "Take those smaller tasks for each goal and set a deadline to get them done.” The Confident Marketer offers a simplified business plan template for home-based businesses that are not brick and mortar shops. Painter also runs a Business Mentorship Program specifically for women business owners.
• Find help and support. “As a solo professional, it’s easy to live on an island,” says Zwierzynski. “Finding like-minded people who can help you achieve your goals and support you along the way will make a difference in crossing that goal off your New Year’s list.”
