Local police officers and children partner for CopShop at Billings Bridge Shopping Centre

Local police officers and children partner for CopShop

Ottawa, Ontario. The 3rd annual CopShop presented by Billings Bridge Centre and the Ottawa Police Service for local children will take place on Wednesday, December 15th at 11:00 am at Billings Bridge Centre.

Cop Shop is a community event taking place in shopping centres across Canada. At Billings Bridge Centre thirty police officers, armed with Christmas wish lists, are paired with specially chosen children for a special shopping spree. The selected children are chosen by recommendations from a variety of sources and based on need.

Each child will receive a $200 gift card donated by Billings Bridge Centre and a stocking filled with merchandise from the retailers.

Ottawa Police Service spokesperson Cst. Gary McCoy and selected children will be available for interviews during CopShop. The schedule for the event is as follows:

11:00 Children and officers meet in Upper Level Food Court for pairing
11:15 Deputy Chief speaks to the officers and children
11:20 Santa speaks to the crowd and hands out stockings & gift cards

11:25 Officers and children have lunch before shopping
11:45 Officers and children begin shopping
