For Release on August 9th 2010
Plainview, New York – Andrew Lockwood, J.D., a local college financial aid consultant specializing in late-stage college funding strategies announced today that he will add a second, last-minute venue to accommodate those parents who registered too late for his workshop earlier in August.
“I had to scramble after a local newspaper featured me in a short piece,” said Lockwood. “I think that parents read a one-liner about how I disclose the so-called “secrets” that “forgotten middle class” parents can employ to beat the expensive, rip-off colleges and student loan companies at their own game. Next thing I knew, my workshop at the Mid-Island JCC was overbooked within hours,” Lockwood said.
“I’d like to publicly apologize to the parents whom we disappointed,” Lockwood said. “Problem was, I had teed up about 2,000 postcards to promote the workshop but it was too late to pull them back from the post office after the article came out,” Lockwood said. “So we spent a lot of time on the phone apologizing to irate parents who couldn’t understand how I could advertise something that was unavailable.” Lockwood said.
After a hectic few days, Lockwood’s staff secured a second location seven days later on Thursday, August 19th, 7pm at the Knights of Columbus in Hicksville, NY.
The free workshop will cover the following topics, among others:
· How Even Families Earning Nice, Six-Figure Incomes Can Qualify for $30,000 or More In Grants, Scholarships and Other Financial Aid
· The Biggest Mistake Most Parents Make When Researching College Costs
· Why Your CPA’s or Stock-broker’s Advice About Where to Save for College Might Have Dealt a Death Blow to Your Chances of Receiving Financial Aid…And What to Do About It
· Five “Late-Stage” College Funding Tips for Parents Who Don’t See How on God’s Green Earth They’ll Be Able to Pay Tuition Next Year
· More
Interested parents of college-bound teens can register for the overflow workshop by calling 516-882-5464 ext. 299 while seats are still available - as of the date of this writing, the workshop was 54% full.
