With the unemployment rate in America being at an inaccurate 10%, many people have found themselves lying on the couch in desperation of something to stimulate their finances. These men and women have worked their whole lives at the same job learning there specialization perfectly. Yet in a moment(under exaggeration) of economical turmoil the boss drops the majority of his employees to keep the business afloat, but this business cant run without Martha the receptionist, or Dave the book keeper, or Kristina the tax advisor. Yet they all get cut because of money. Just remember, it wont be long until they need to fill that position again.
If you are sitting in front of your computer right now doing a tad bit of procrastinating while you are on the Job hunt, you are a very lucky individual because this press article was written just for you. Your old employer (or current employer that gave you your last days notice) will need to fill your position once again. Does this mean you keep calling weekly to that same company and find out the hiring status... NO! There is a saying that talks about dogs going back to their own vomit, don't be that dog. You have to remember that hiring and firing is a cyclical battle, but you must learn to flow with the current in the right direction. Going back to your old boss would be like swimming up current, all you get is tired and lose more energy and excitement for the prospects that are before you.
To go with the flow of the current you must do some soul searching first. You must make a big "experience stew" as I like to call it. Take 1 part what you know, 1 part what you did before, 1 part what you love to do, 1 part what you hate to do, and finally 2 parts who you want to be (Past, Present, And Future included). With the combination of these six portions combined, you will get something very tasty...A job you can do and love.
So remember, there are a lot of people in your shoes right now wondering what they are going to do to provide for themselves or their family. You must go with the flow of this very natural cycle. But whatever you do, don't get caught sitting at the sideline. You must be proactive in looking in the departments and business' that you have experience. Bring to the table new energy and Ideas so that the employers would not be able to succeed without you. A good rule of thumb in starting your search is looking at the companies that were most competitive with your last employers line of work. (IE if you worked at Best Buy...put in an application at Radio Shack)
Good Luck out there, even though it is a very tough economic world right now, you are needed, you just have to find where!
