(Free-Press-Release.com) March 24, 2010 --
Most of the babies before their birth move into a head-down position in the mother's uterus. However, some babies remain in up-right position all throughout pregnancy. Such babies are called breech babies. In a breech presentation, the baby's buttocks, feet or both are in place to come out first. Mostly breech babies are born healthy but are highly prone to certain problems as compared to the babies born headfirst. A good doctor can provide the best advice to plan a breech baby.
Luciano Sztulman, MD is a well-recognized name in obstetrics and gynecology. He specializes in women's health and wellness preventative medicine, advanced cosmetic and reconstructive gynecological surgery. Dr. Luciano Sztulman suggests the best plan for delivery of a breech baby. He performs physical exam by placing his hands at some points on the abdomen and feeling it through the wall of the abdomen in order to tell the position of the baby. If the baby is breech, Luciano Sztulman, MD suggests version, which is an attempt to turn the baby head down. To turn the baby, hands are placed at certain points on female's abdomen, and then the baby is pushed or lifted. Most often, version is not tried until the woman is at least 36 weeks pregnant. Dr. Luciano Sztulman suggests an ultrasound exam to confirm the position. Luciano Sztulman, MD says that if the baby can be turned with version, vaginal birth can be possible, but if the baby is in a breech position, cesarean birth is the best option.
