The Lynn Lions, part of the Lions Clubs International, the largest service club organization, has donated $1,000 to the Lions Club International Foundation (www.lcif.org) to aid in the relief work to help Japan in the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami that has devastated that country.
The Lynn Lions' donation is in addition to relief efforts already being conducted by volunteers from Lions of Japan, a sister organization that is also part of Lions Clubs International. Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) is providing $5 million to support Lions' relief efforts. This includes grants as well as donations from Lions around the world.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with our sister and brother Lions in Japan and to their communities they serve," said Sean Crowley, Lynn Lions Club President. "The Lynn Lions were moved by the news and photographs to contribute to the much needed relief efforts and help with a recovery process that will likely take years."
Ranked by a Financial Times' study as the number one non-governmental organization with which to partner, the LCIF awards approximately millions in emergency grant funding, in addition to additional grant funding for major catastrophes. With more 107,000 members, Lions of Japan has mobilized to provide immediate relief.
