FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Irvine, California, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) November 2, 2011 -- SACRAMENTO, Calif. – (November 2, 2011) – Lyon Communities, recognized as one of the largest and most respected privately held multi-family real estate companies in California, has kicked off its annual “Holiday Food Drive” benefitting the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services at the Oak Creek Apartment Community in Citrus Heights.
Lyon Communities is hosting this year’s drive to help the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services reach its goal of raising funds and collecting pounds of nutritious food for families and individuals in need in Sacramento.

“Hunger is a very serious, ever-growing problem – even in the Sacramento area,” said Suzanne Maddalon, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Lyon Communities. “Our goal is to help the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services feed those that for a variety of reasons are struggling to provide enough food for themselves or their families.”
“During the holidays food banks experience an increase in need, yet also see a sharp reduction in supply,” added Maddalon. “In addition to raising awareness for the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services’ needs, our food and fund drive will help bridge that gap. We hope that this will make a significant difference in the lives of those who need it most.”

The Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services (SFBFS) currently operates two large facilities, one in Oak Park and one in North Sacramento, serving neighborhoods with families experiencing some of the highest rates of poverty, unemployment, child abuse and neglect, malnourishment and overall hardship in the Sacramento area. Over three decades, the number of programs and services offered by SFBFS grew from food and clothing to include adult education, child development and technology. Most recently, economic trends and developments caused SFBFS to modify service delivery and in 2008, SFBFS began mobile distribution of groceries through the Food Assistance program.

All of Lyon Communities in Northern California are participating in the annual food and fund drive, beginning November 1. Each community is providing potential residents with an incentive to participate; for example, if someone donates five canned goods, Lyon Communities will waive their application fee.

Food collection barrels have arrived and residents can fill them until they are picked up on Wednesday, November 30. For more information, residents should visit the Oak Creek Apartment Community leasing center, call (916) 722-3898 or visit us online at www.LyonOakCreek.com.
