MACTEC WORKING WITH FDOT TO IMPROVE FLAMINGO ROAD

(Free-Press-Release.com) February 28, 2011 -- MIAMI, Feb. 28, 2011 – MACTEC has been retained by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to provide Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) services that will result in significant improvements to Flamingo Road in Broward County, FL. Allen Kibler, President of MACTEC Engineering and Consulting, Inc., (www.mactec.com), made the announcement. Company fees are $1.35 million.

The section of Flamingo Road involving MACTEC is a five-mile long major arterial and runs through the Cities of Pembroke Pines, Cooper City and into the Town of Davie. State Road 823, a 20.3 mile-long highway, eventually merges into Flamingo Road.
According to MACTEC Senior Project Engineer Michael Hammond, P.E., the $4 million project is slated to begin major construction activities in December 2010 and be completed by March 2012.

Key elements of the project include milling and resurfacing the road; restriping lanes to include a bicycle lane, and adding video detection along with other safety improvements to existing hanging wire traffic signals. The project will also add new turn lanes at pivotal intersections, new bus stop accommodations and replace landscaping damaged by Hurricane Wilma in 2005.
