The diverse group that makes up the association mission is to reduce energy consumption and offer alternative energy sources. They keep members informed of changes, new ideas, giving access to data and supporting policies which ensure government programs do not provide a competitive advantage for some individuals and businesses at the expense of others. In keeping with that mission they actively represent these interests attending Maine legislature and other policy-making forums that effect or relate to the cause. Create workshops and events where the members, businesses can showcase and inform about participation in the unified cause.

The MABEP supports programs which establish long-term, stable incentives for all homeowners and businesses to invest in energy efficiency and reductions in their use of fossil fuels. They have become a clearinghouse for the technical data and new ideas the professionals share and support the information through seminars, press releases, articles as well as support programs which establish long-term, stable incentives for all homeowners and businesses to invest in energy efficiency and reductions in their use of fossil fuels.

They urge and encourage the public, individuals and businesses to contact them, join in their membership and take part in the role of achieving efficiency of residential and commercial buildings. The MABEP continues to represent and seek the interest of energy auditors, energy retrofit contractors, energy efficient green builders, insulation contractors, weatherization professionals, installers of wind turbine, geo thermal, heat pump, and solar technologies, installers of energy efficiency materials and equipment, installers of non-fossil fuel generating devices, manufacturers and suppliers, home inspectors, architects, engineers, interior designers and all other persons and businesses who seek the knowledge they have accumulated to achieve their mission.
