Manchester to Lead Drugs Revolution?
Manchester to Lead Drugs Revolution?
The Narconon drug education charity in Manchester is to launch a new drugs initiative that may place an affordable method of withdrawal within reach of millions.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) January 17, 2012 --
Manchester looks set once more to show the rest of the world how things are done as its local Narconon chapter announced today the arrival of a revolution in Drug Withdrawal that could open the door to recovery for thousands of addicts and their long-suffering families.
As the drugs epidemic continues to spiral out of control, the two major stumbling blocks to combating the problem are easy to identify.
The first is the scarcity of uniformly workable methods of overcoming the daunting agonies of drug withdrawal. The psycho-pharmaceutical approach in particular has attracted growing controversy as its many critics point to success rates that are unacceptably low.
The second is that those low success rates come at inordinately high costs to the consumer and the tax payer with many thousands of pounds being raked in for withdrawal programmes that deliver results as low as 2%.
The twin evils of the astronomical expense of many programmes, which at the same time deliver very poor prospects of an actual result, have combined to place out of reach the realistic hope of recovery form addiction that so many desperately seek.
But all that may be set to change as Narconon releases its self-help method of withdrawal known as the First Step programme and sets about making it available at grass roots level.
Narconon is a Drug Education movement that now spans over four decades and more than forty countries and the First Step method is based is long experience of delivering a drug-free withdrawal method designed to minimise and even eradicate the profound discomforts usually associated with drug withdrawal.
It can be done at home on a self-help basis and at a cost that almost anyone can afford. In effect, Narconon is making its withdrawal method broadly available so that people of even modest means can help themselves or someone they care about, such as a family member. By all accounts, the Narconon method is straightforward enough to learn and once one has been trained in how to do it, one has the “secret” forever, to use as frequently and extensively as one desires and at little or no additional cost.
Of the first step, Manchester’s Narconon representative, Peter Dwan, a long time local advocate of the Narconon method, said: “For me this is the answer to a prayer – how to make a workable, non-medical method of withdrawal available very inexpensively to anyone who wants to help themselves or another person. You can learn it and apply it at home. We’ll teach you how it is done, then encourage you to go out and use it. We want this to spread at grass roots level, to arm addicts, their families, communities and even the government with the means not only of freeing people from drugs but of saving an absolute fortune into the bargain.”
Could Narconon be about the deliver affordable salvation to the people of Manchester so far as drugs are concerned?
We hope so. It would seem that the entire community has a vested interest in the success of this First Step Project.
