Marijuana grows wild in New York City: A weed grows in Brooklyn…and Union Square- Video

(Free-Press-Release.com) July 26, 2010 -- Wild marijuana patches have been spotted in various locations of New York City. Starting with a wild patch in Union Square Park, reports have increased to include Ditmas Park in Brooklyn and 1st Street and Second Avenue in New York City.

Speculation as to where the seeds came from vary, but most investigators agree that the seeds were probably discarded when a pot-smoker cleaned his stash. Some conspiracy theorists have claimed that pro-legalization groups have been subversively planting the patches in an effort to promote their agenda, but no proof exists and thus far no group has claimed responsibility.

What better authority to shed some light on the mystery marijuana than Danny Danko, editor of High Times Magazine, who was quoted in the Daily News as saying, "when it's a string of incidents in public places, it might have more to do with a protest idea," Danko said. "People have discussed kind of 'overgrowing' the government. On the other hand, it could be something a little spacier. "Random seeds," Danko said, "from people breaking up their pot."

Artists and vendors around Union Square Park have seen unnamed people scouring the park at night looking for the free-range weed.
