Los Angeles, California --- (May 26, 2011) --- The Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Mission has re-elected entertainer Marilyn McCoo Chairperson of the organization serving the homeless in downtown Los Angeles. McCoo will serve her 2nd term at the helm of the nonprofit.

The board also re-elected its vice chair, secretary and treasurer. Vincent Hruska was unanimously voted to remain as vice-chair, Dr. Henry Cloud was selected to serve as treasurer and Bill Embree will continue as secretary. Each will serve an additional one-year term.

“I am happy to be able to continue to serve,” said McCoo after Thursday’s board meeting.

Entertainer McCoo joined the board in 2002. She was introduced to the work of the Mission in 1996 though her involvement with the Celebrity Action Council (CAC), which supports the work of the Anne Douglas Center for Women (ADC) at the Los Angeles Mission. The ADC serves women working to resolve issues that will help them restore their lives off of the streets of Skid Row.

Vince Hruska is Senior Vice President of Product Solutions and Strategies for City National Bank. He leads the development, pricing and management of bank products and services for individuals and businesses. He previously served in a management role for online services in the Global Treasury Services Division at Bank of America. Hruska has served or chaired the boards of several faith-based organizations that provide housing and assistance to homeless families or to prevent homelessness.

Dr. Cloud is a clinical psychologist and leadership consultant with a unique ability to connect with audiences. Dr. Cloud has written or co-written over 20 books, including the two million-seller Boundaries, Integrity: The Courage To Meet The Demands of Reality, 9 Things You Simply Must Do: To Succeed in Love and Life, and most recently, The One-Life Solution. Dr. Cloud is the co-host of the nationally syndicated radio program New Life Live heard in 180 markets where millions of listeners have benefited from his wit and wisdom for over a decade.

Bill Embree has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Mission since January of 2008. He has been a long-time supporter and volunteer for the Los Angeles Mission. Embree is often seen helping handle the seating logistics at the Mission’s holiday events, working the staff and other volunteers to make sure each guest is served quickly and lovingly. Embree is a market manager with BMW in Los Angeles. He has worked for the company since 1976. He has a BA from Whittier College in business and psychology.

For 75 years, the Los Angeles Mission has served the people of Skid Row, providing emergency services such as shelter, food, clothing, as well as professional medical and dental services. In addition, the Los Angeles Mission also offers long-term residential rehabilitation programs including education, job training/placement, transitional housing and counseling.
