LOUISVILLE, KY, MAY 16, 2011 – MACTEC has appointed Mark S. Edmonson, P.E., as Louisville Environmental Group Leader. Allen Kibler, President of MACTEC Engineering and Consulting, Inc., (www.mactec.com), made the announcement.
Edmonson brings to MACTEC more than 30 years of environmental engineering/consulting/management experience. This includes managing numerous remediation, site characterization, and emergency response/immediate removal projects involving petroleum, hazardous, and/or toxic substances/constituents at sites regulated under various federal and state programs.
“Mark’s an experienced technical, financial and administrative manager and his extensive knowledge of environmental regulations, waste management, permitting requirements, monitoring methods and project QA/QC will be invaluable for MACTEC as we continue to expand the scope and breadth of the company’s environmental services,” said Brian D. Owens, P.E., the firm’s Kentucky Operations Manager.
A recent project supervised by Edmonson was site characterization and development of remedial options for a high-strength chlorinated solvent plume at a printed circuit board manufacturing facility in São Paulo, Brazil. The project involved advancement, characterization, sampling, and analysis of numerous soil borings and groundwater monitoring wells (including multilevel clusters and double-cased conductor wells); dye-trace studies; and pilot-testing for multiphase extraction and in-situ injection. Edmonson was responsible for researching and interpreting local regulatory requirements, and authored a comprehensive report chronicling 10 years of site investigations, offering interpretation of site conditions and contaminant extent, fate, and transport that supported remedial recommendations. Based on investigations and reporting indicating that contamination occurred prior to the client’s ownership, the former property owner took responsibility for site remediation.
Edmonson received a Bachelor of Environmental Engineering Technology degree from Western Kentucky University. He’s a Registered Professional Engineer in Kentucky and is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, Kentucky Society of Professional Engineers, Kentucky Manufacturers Association-Chemical Industries Council and sits on the Environmental Affairs Committee of Greater Louisville, Inc.
