(August 2011) – Masonite®, global manufacturer of interior and entry doors, has launched a new designer patio door product line using SpectraWeldTM technology. Patio doors have traditionally been limited to clear glass or simple grids, but this innovative process bonds composite material to a single sheet of glass, yet gives the appearance of caming, or multiple pieces of glass fused together.

“This technology allows us to do what is impossible with a traditional camed piece of glass,” said Jason Walsh, industrial designer for Masonite. “We get to be more creative, offering a wider range of styles, and it’s all done with a single, more lightweight, piece of glass.”

The collection offers six distinct glass designs, ranging from ornate to simple. Several design options, including vines, diamonds and the traditional divided lites look, are available.

“More and more, we are seeing homeowners view doors as decorative elements in their house,” said Keith Kometer, vice president of product segments and marketing for Masonite. “We’re proud to offer them more design options to connect their indoor and outdoor living spaces in a fashionable way.”

All Masonite designer patio doors are manufactured with Low-E glass, which improves thermal performance and allows for year-round energy efficiency.
