Mattison's Riverside Transforms Into Pier 22 Restaurant, Patio, And Ballroom.

The Miller Family, who developed and has owned the restaurant since 1976 has elected not to renew the name licensing agreement with the Mattison Company. The owners feel it is time to continue their growth and expansion under a broader name which better identifies the location. The name Pier 22 comes from the historic nature of the Memorial Pier on which the restaurant stands and the red channel marker 22 on the Manatee River that leads into the Twin Dolphin Marina and restaurant. Hugh Miller, the managing general partner for the restaurant and marina said, “I am really excited about our new name. I feel it gives the restaurant a more modern look and better represents the expansive and creative menu our culinary team has created over the years.”

The Executive Chef and General Manager, Greg Campbell has teamed up with the Miller Family for over 5 years and is equally as excited about the fresh new look and change. “My culinary team and the entire staff are not resting on our past successes. We are striving every day to continue growing and refining our innovative menu and fine points of service. We worked very hard to earn our Wine Spectator Award and 6 People’s Choice Awards published in the Bradenton Herald this past year. Our goal is to continue to improve on our performance and exceed our guest expectations. We understand we are only as good as our guest’s last experience.”


Pier 22 continues to offer a full sushi bar, fresh whole fish procurement program guaranteeing only the freshest fish available and an outstanding array of venues to accommodate every occasion. The new expanded patio and riverside terrace provides the perfect setting for al fresco dining and special events. A grand celebration party takes place Thursday, September 1st from 5:30 to 7:00pm with live music and prizes. Complimentary wine tastings, menu samplings and specialty drinks will be offered.
