Denver Event Raises Money To Care For And Save Animal Lives

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Denver, Colorado, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) March 3, 2011 -- Denver, Colo. March 3, 2011- MaxFund, a No-Kill Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, hosted their 17th Annual Chili Cook Off on Sunday, Feb. 20 at Delaney's Bar, Celtic Tavern in Denver. The event attracted over 300 guests, double the attendance from last year, and raised more than $5,000 to help save and support animal lives.

"We are thrilled by the overwhelming support and turnout," says MaxFund Development Director Tricia Cominsky. "A fun-filled day of chili tasting, visiting with old friends, and making news ones (some with four legs, some with two) helped us raise over $5,000, and will give us the chance to continue to care for our current pets and to save more injured strays.”

The Chili Cook Off featured 20 chili entries with four competing categories in Red, Green, Vegetarian and this year’s new Restaurant category. The event was so successful this year that many chili chefs found themselves out of chili just half way into the event. A team of chefs from the Brown Palace competed and won both the restaurant category and the grand prize with their savory green chili. The Brown Palace team generously donated all prize money of $400 back to MaxFund.

“We’re so grateful to Patrick, John, and the staff at Delany’s Bar for hosting us,” says Cominsky. “The Restaurant Category was an excellent addition this year. It added a new type of competition and we hope to see more chef coats and toques next year.”

The canines and felines of MaxFund stole the show and the affection and interest from a few event attendees. MaxFund received several applications from potential adoptive families. Other highlights of the Chili Cook Off included a silent auction and the MaxFund adoption van parked in front of the Celtic Tavern. Pets-N-Stuff showed their support by donating 100 large gift bags filled with goodies and treats for pets owners at the event to take home.
