Maxim Hygiene, makers of organic and natural cotton menstrual care products, announced it will be donating a percentage of product sales to You ARE Loved, a non profit dedicated to TSS Awareness
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) December 8, 2011 --
New York, NY Dec. 8, 2011 - What started with a heart wrenching phone call to Maxim Hygiene from Lisa Elifritz, a mother committed to protecting women against the tragedy she experienced after losing her 20 year old daughter, Amy Rae Elifritz, to tampon related TSS, has turned into a collaboration on changing the way young teens and women everywhere think about their period.
Maxim Hygiene first teamed up with Lisa in May 2011 with a call to action amongst their community of women and loyal fans to learn about TSS and support Lisa in her ambitions to develop a non-profit that would raise awareness for TSS amongst women everywhere. Since then, the non-profit has established itself with a name, You ARE Loved, created an interactive and informative forum, rallied a strong group of followers and is saving lives!
The Gift of Love campaign marks the celebration of You ARE Loved’s achievements since the initiation of our first campaign and Maxim Hygiene’s commitment to not only offering women premium quality organic and natural products, but upholding its homegrown values for Body, Earth, and Health matters.
TSS is a potentially fatal illness caused by bacterial toxin called staphylococcus aureus and streptococcus pyogenes. There are many underlying causes associated with the proliferation of these bacterial toxins, one of which is a major concern to Maxim Hygiene - the use of tampons made with synthetic fibers. What looks like cotton in some tampons is not always 100% cotton, rather a blend of synthetics, like rayon and viscose, materials that can not only cause TSS, but a slew of other health and environmental risk factors of concern to Maxim Hygiene, like irritation. Extensive research shows that the use of organic cotton tampons like those produced by Maxim Hygiene are less likely to cause TSS.
The Gift of Love Campaign launched on October 16, 2011, what would have been Amy’s 22nd Birthday and will run through the end of the year. All Maxim Hygiene product purchases made during this time will fund the continued development of You ARE Loved.
