http://www.LEEDtraining.net NEW YORK CITY – PRATT Institute NYC and The Institute of Design & Construction (IDC), in affiliation with Forever Green Training & Sustainable Design, will offer a one-day seminar – LEED Green Associate Exam Preparation: The Core Concepts of Sustainable Design – in 2011, according to Vincent C. Battista, president and executive director of IDC. This seminar provides the education necessary for the LEED Green Associate Certification (Tier One) which is the basic requirements needed for the LEED AP+ status. The one-day, 8-hour course will be given in 2011 from 9:30am to 5:30pm at IDC, 141 Willoughby Street in downtown Brooklyn.
Those who complete the seminar will receive a letter of eligibility that enables them to take the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for Green Associate accreditation examination offered by the Green Building Certification Institute (www.GBCI.org). This accreditation was created specifically for professionals who wish to demonstrate green building expertise in non-technical fields of practice. Green Associate is the prerequisite toward obtaining a LEED AP status. In addition, attendees will earn a minimum of 7 continuing education units (CEUs).
“This seminar will be beneficial for A/E/C professionals – including architects, interior designers, project managers, engineers and marketing folks – who already have a basic knowledge of green design, construction and operation,” says Mr. Battista.
Irene Santoro, LEED-AP, founder and president of Excel Design & Construction Inc., Charles Anthony Interiors, LLC. and Forever Green (the latter two are USGBC members), will be the instructor for the seminar.
Ms. Santoro has 20+ years of design and construction experience. She is also on the Green Clean committee to help guide and trouble shoot building issues associated with the Green Zone, and sensitive site areas within Staten Island. She has recently completed the redesign of her own beachfront home in New Jersey to meet the standards for LEED®-certification. Ms. Santoro has written several preparatory books that coordinate with the LEED reference guides. These books include: The Green Building Design & Construction V3, Green Associate Plus and The Green Real Estate Guide to LEED Certified Building & Sustainable Design.
