Mayor sees firm cherry pick new technology

October 12, 2011

"The spider can get anywhere and allow access to places that conventional machines can't get to"

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) October 12, 2011 -- The Mayors of both North Tyneside and Gateshead were hoisted high above street level by a giant spider at an open day to showcase the new state of the art technology available to ease access to high rise buildings, bridges and street lighting.
The spider in question however wasn’t an eight legged arachnoid but the latest high tech addition to the fleet of family owned business, Warren Access of Brunswick Industrial Estate in Newcastle.

The firm who specialise in hiring and supplying van and lorry mounted hydraulic platforms and cherry pickers set up in 1993 when founder, Derek Warren was made redundant. The business rapidly expanded and in 2005, Derek’s son Graeme and daughter in law Michelle took on the day to day running of the company.

With the business expanding into new premises last year and the addition of extra staff together with a fleet of 30 vehicles, Warren Access is fast becoming one of the region’s business success stories.

Star of the open day, the new Teupen Spider is able to safely operate indoors and outdoors, it can also fold down and crawl through small spaces to get through garden gates and doorways. Unlike conventional hoisting platforms, it is ideal for work in shopping centres, churches, theatres and football grounds. Its tough tracks can easily be used on rough terrain or on split levels and it can even climb stairs.

Warren Access prides themselves on their family run business and the close interaction they have with their customers. Feedback from their customers requesting a machine that could be used anywhere led to the investment in the Spider and Partners Derek, Graeme and Michelle Warren are expecting that the machine will be in constant demand.

“This is the only machine of its type in the North East and we are anticipating that it will be heavily utilised on the run up to Christmas by places such as shopping centres needing to put up their decorations safely and efficiently,” Graeme said.

“We are delighted to have been able to demonstrate the versatility of the Spider to not one, but two Mayors at our open day. We do a lot of work with the local authorities and now we can demonstrate to North Tyneside’s Mayor, Linda Arkley and Gateshead’s Mayor Joe Michinson how we can get our Spider into places where conventional equipment won’t fit.”
