Mazda has announced that the brand will release another fuel efficient engine in the Skyactiv suite of engines, this one boasting a fuel economy up to 70 miles per gallon. The all new Skyactiv-G engine from Mazda is a 1.3 liter, direct injection gas powered engine that, for the time being, will only be released in Japan. Mazda plans to equip the next generation Mazda Demio with the all new Skyactiv-G engine, and that model will be released on the market in Japan in the near future. According to Japanese test drives, the Mazda Demio can reach a fuel economy of up to 70 miles per gallon, and produces 83 horsepower and 83 pound feet of torque. Mazda does not currently plan to release the engine in the U.S., however other Skyactiv-G engines will be making their way to the U.S. soon. The Mazda3 and Mazda CX-5 will both offer a 2.0 liter version of the Skyactiv-G, rated at 40 mpg.
