Cheyney University of Pennsylvania’s Call Me Mister Teacher Leadership Program will visit the Chester Community Charter School providing a public presentation to the youth about following their dreams, becoming great and doing well in school. The program will display components of their Character Education and Leadership Development program through an inspiring, fun and interactive presentation. This scheduled event will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2009 with two presentations, the 1st to begin at 2:00 p.m. and the 2nd at 2:45 p.m.

Cheyney University of Pennsylvania’s partnership with the Chester Community Charter School began in June 2009. The University is proud of this collaboration.

The Call Me MISTER program is a unique teacher leadership program for minority males that provides its participants with resources and support necessary for them to succeed as mentors, pre-service teachers, and educational professionals to be placed in underserved minority communities.

Popular entertainer, Dr. Bill Cosby has recently agreed to serve as the Honorary Chairman of Cheyney University of Pennsylvania’s Call Me MISTER Leadership Program. Cheyney University’s program was recently featured in USA Today, MSNBC, NY Post, and CBSnews.com. Oprah Winfrey and others have lauded the program for its efforts to increase the presence of qualified minority teachers in the classrooms across the United States.

Cheyney University is the nation’s oldest historically Black institution of higher education, and the only HBCU in the PA State System of Higher Education. It offers baccalaureate degrees in more than 30 disciplines and six master’s degree programs.
