MEDIA ADVISORY For Wednesday, September 1, 2010: Save-A-Pet Coordinates Rescue of 20 Adult Dogs from Puppy Mills

Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue and Adoption Center is coordinating with Best Friends Animal Society of Utah to rescue 20 adult dogs that were used for breeding purposes at “puppy mills” in the Midwest.

Best Friends Animal Society staff members and volunteers
What: Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue and Adoption Center is coordinating with Best Friends Animal Society of Utah to rescue 20 adult dogs that were used for breeding purposes at “puppy mills” in the Midwest. These dogs were later abandoned by the puppy mill owners when they were no longer deemed useful.
The dogs will be picked up from Randall’s Island and brought back to Save-A-Pet. The staff members and volunteers at Save-A-Pet will nurse these animals back to health so that they can be ready for adoption. Ms. Scofield is asking for a forever home for these pets and donations to cover the animals’ medical costs.

Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue Inc. was established in 1994 and is located in Port Jefferson Station. Save-A-Pet works with The Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter, to place homeless animals into new homes with loving families. All of the animals that come to Save-A-Pet are spayed, neutered, tested for diseases and vaccinated. Prospective adopters are thoroughly screened and matched with the most suitable pet for them and their family. Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue is a non-profit, no-kill shelter and is a safe haven for all of the animals that enter it.
