MEDIX SCHOOLS IN MARYLAND BECOME FORTIS INSTITUTE

(Free-Press-Release.com) September 22, 2011 -- BALTIMORE – (September 21, 2011) – Medix School’s Maryland campuses, Medix, West Baltimore and Medix - Towson, have changed their names to Fortis Institute, Woodlawn Campus and Fortis Institute – Towson respectively..

Leading post-secondary education institutions in the greater Baltimore area, the campuses and their ownership remain the same. As part of the collaborative Fortis network of colleges and institutes, both will continue to embrace the same core values for which they are known. But now, they also will be able to draw upon additional resources and have access to higher level educational program offerings and technology.

“The word ‘Fortis’ is derived from Greek roots and literally means strength and power. “The campuses’ move to the Fortis name demonstrates their commitment to providing students throughout greater Baltimore and the surrounding communities with one of the most career-focused learning environments available today,” said Regional Vice President Carl Spatocco.

According to Spatocco, the name may have changed, but the strong relationship that exists between the two campuses and students and the community at large will continue…and likely will grow through the expanded resources, enhanced expertise and strength in numbers the affiliation with other campuses brings. Medix Schools have been an integral part of the community for years. The Towson campus has been educating local residents since 1969.

“They will still be the Baltimore area’s campuses, but now will have more to share and give back to students, businesses and extern partners. We believe the best just got even better,” Spatocco added.
