Meet Chris McCarron And Bet Breeders Cup Simulcasting On Live Sirius Radio Broadcast Saturday

Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway will host live Sirius XM Satellite Radio broadcasts of the Breeders’ Cup on both Friday, November 4, and Saturday, November 5, hosted by popular race caller extraordinaire Dave Johnson and racing journalist Bill Finley. Hall of Fame jockey Chris McCarron, the winner of nine career Breeders’ Cup races, including a record five Classics, will provide the expert analysis on site live from the Empire Terrace Dining Room. Simulcast wagering on the Breeders’ Cup is available in the Empire Terrace and at various other locations on the first, third and fourth floors at Yonkers Raceway.

Friday is “Ladies Day,” with five Distaff races for the gals among six Breeders’ Cup contests on tap, and the four-hour broadcast gets underway at 4:00 pm, concluding at 8:00 pm with the Ladies Classic (7:30 pm post). Fans can get the pre-race analysis, and have a chance to meet McCarron, Johnson, Finley and handicapper/analyst Darin Zoccali. The first Breeders’ Cup post time on Friday is at 4:10 pm with the Juvenile Sprint for two-year-old colts, geldings and fillies.

Saturday is the main event with eight championship races. The Sirius XM broadcast begins with the “Down the Stretch” program from 10 am through 1:00 pm, immediately followed by the 1:00-7:30 pm Breeders’ Cup action. The broadcast festivities and championship action wrap up with the Breeders’ Cup Classic (post time 7:00 pm), evoking fond memories for McCarron who captured back-to-back Classics with the legendary Tiznow among his record five Classic wins. McCarron’s three other Classic victories were stirring triumphs aboard Alphabet Soup, Alysheba and Sunday Silence. Post time for the first Breeders’ Cup event is at 1:20 pm with the Marathon.

In July, Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway broke ground on a $40 Million expansion that is expected to produce more than 200 new construction jobs and 100 permanent jobs at Yonkers’ largest employer and New York's most successful racino. The expansion has been praised for creating new jobs and giving a shot in the arm to local economic development activities which will build on the Raceway's billion dollar investment in schools in Yonkers and across New York State as Yonkers’ largest employer. The 66,000 square-foot space, which was part of the original casino construction approvals issued by the New York State Lottery and the New York State Racing and Wagering Board in 2006, will provide 30,000 square feet of additional gaming space, 20,000 square feet of food and beverage facility space, 6,000 square feet for a new casino entrance, and 10,000 square feet of office and administrative related space. The expansion will allow Empire City to reconfigure its current gaming layout, relocating 350 of its existing 5,310 slot machines while introducing 400 new electronic table gaming seats for its customers.
