Tell us a little bit about Isabelle Chanteperdrix.

I’m from Lyon, France. I came here in 2006 on vacation and fell in love with the island. I knew right away that this was where I wanted to be. Two years later I closed my hair salon in Lyon and moved to Paradise.

Where do you live?
I was looking for a nice place that was walking distance to the beach. I contacted Punta Cana Lifestyle Real Estate, and they found me a wonderful, spacious, one bedroom apartment located in the Cortecito area with a large, private terrace on the level above. I really love it, I can walk to the beach and am very close to all the area shops and restaurants.

Do you have a fixed leisure / work routine? What does it look like?

I spend a lot of time at the beach and having dinner with friends, I love to cook. There is a nice sized French speaking community here, sometimes we get together at one of the many area restaurants for dinner and drinks.

On my time off, I also like to get away and visit some of the island’s beautiful spots like Saona Island, Catalina Island, and other surrounding towns. The local beach here, Bavaro Beach, is one of most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. It has white sands and crystal clear waters, just an amazing place to live.
I have a set schedule for work and I try to take advantage of every minute I have to myself.

How many hours do you work per week?
My shop is open Monday through Saturdays from 9:30am to 6:00pm

Why did you branch out on your own, how did you do it?
I felt I had something else to offer my clients; I wanted a salon that focused on great service and atmosphere –and most importantly, a good product!

I contacted Punta Cana Lifestyle Real Estate and I asked for help in finding the ideal place for my new salon. I had in mind something small, and cozy to maintain a nice ambiance, the price was a big factor, and of course a great location with good street exposure.

Punta Cana Lifestyle Real Estate had helped me in the past with my living arrangements, so I counted on them to help me get started. We found a nice space at Plaza Sun Beach, with 32m2, lots of light and great street exposure. I am very happy where I am.

What would you say is the biggest reason for your success in Bavaro?
Bavaro – Punta Cana has a big European community, the area salons had no good quality product like the one I am accustomed to using, and there was a huge lack of experience and education about hair care. Most hairstylists have no previous salon experience, studies or its products.
I knew it was time to open my own hair salon when my clientele started asking me to do it. As we all know, going out on your own is risky, but with the ongoing support of my clients, it’s become a great success.

If you could go back in time, what would you do differently?
Nothing, I think I took my time and built my reputation, established myself as a reputable hair stylist.

Thanks very much for sharing with us, have you any plans (personal or business) that you can share with us about your future plans, goals, lifetime goals?
I travel to France with frequency, and I am now beginning to bring in accessories that include hand bags and custom jewelry, to sell at my shop. I hope to expand my business in the future to a larger place to accommodate these great accessories.
