Kim from Tynemouth is widely regarded as one of the UK’s top creative minds and she is thrilled to join the Get Carter team but her success in business is all the more remarkable as each day Kim has to cope with a major disability.
When Kim was just 25, she developed Meningitis and almost died after finding herself alone in her Newcastle flat with no one to help her. Thankfully, her friends called to check up on her and found her unconscious and close to death.
Kim was taken to hospital where medical staff battled against septicaemia, heart and kidney failure and other life threatening symptoms associated with Meningitis. In all, Kim spent a gruelling 12 months in hospital and traumatically, lost both of her legs in the process.

“When I left hospital, I could hardly walk, I had to leave my flat as I couldn’t get up the stairs and I also lost my job,” she said.
“I decided to change my career so I took a course in advertising and design which led to a job at Metro Radio. I spent three years in their creative department before moving to Galaxy Radio for a further 11 years. I haven’t looked back since.”
Kim’s determination and resilience has followed her throughout her creative career and in her spare time she has even tried her hand at water skiing.

Managing Director, Paul Carter explained that Kim’s renowned business reputation and determination to succeed against the odds made her the ideal candidate to join Get Carter Productions.
“Kim has a remarkable creative flair and a real commitment to delivering results,” he said. “In a recession, businesses will only continue to spend money on marketing if you can prove it delivers for them and that’s exactly what Kim and our team do.
“Kim has joined a business with top-notch facilities and an in-house team of musicians, music producers, production specialists and creatives which will succeed despite adversity all around.. We are very proud to welcome Kim on board.”
