Since having social awkwardness could appear to be indications of a lie, detecting them becomes so much harder. For example; do you remember when a traffic officer orders you to pull over just so that he can check to see if you have a driver’s license, and your heart is racing... although you are completely innocent? Now that can be misunderstood as what a guilty person would do, but in fact it’s just what some people do in awkward or uncomfortable situations.

What could be worse than lying?

So how does one detect the “real” liars?

Well, it starts off with yourself. You’ve first got to suspect that the person could be lying. (That’s obvious.)

And to be certain (and you must be certain) that a person is lying; you’ve got to look at the indications. And I’m not talking about one or two indications; I’m talking about many indications! You’ve got to be absolutely sure that you aren’t going to incorrectly accuse someone. The indications that liars make may vary, so you’ve got to learn all the cues. Some uses cues with their hands, some with their eyes, some with the tempo of their voice, and even some uses particular words that could indicate their deception.
