MIAMI DOWNTOWN CONCERT SERIES FEATURES CHAMPION BASSOONIST AND ROMANIA CLASSICAL PIANIST

Dr. Jefferson Campbell, invited to the Miami Downtown Concert Series by director Dr. Bogdan, makes his South Florida debut. Campbell is one of many outstanding musicians to perform in the series.

(Free-Press-Release.com) February 18, 2010 -- Classical Pianist Valentin Mihai Bogdan of Romania, Director of Miami Downtown Concert series has marked up another entertainment victory by inviting Dr. Jefferson Campbell to participate in the February 20th performance at 4:00 p.m. at 400 Biscayne Boulevard. The performance will be presented in the sanctuary of historic First United Methodist Church.

This is the fourth presentation of the highly successful series initiated by Dr, Bogdan last fall. Several more concerts are planned for the future.

Dr. Bogdan and Dr. Campbell will feature works for piano and bassoon by young emerging contemporary composers, and much more. The performers are well suited for the concert. Both are prize-winning artists in their specialty. Both teach and mentor students in the music arts at their respective colleges.

Dr. Valentin Mihai Bogdan graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wayne State University where he earned an undergraduate degree in piano performance. His Masters degree in music is from Michigan State University. He received his Doctorate from the University of Miami in Florida.

Valentin Bogdan sponsored many concerts in the Miami FL area. They have featured such Concert Pianists as Julia Mortyakova, and recently a South American Musical group.

His talent has won him several awards both in Europe and the United States. He has performed a number of concerts individually. Some of his performances have been his own composing. His compositions have been played not only by him, but have been featured by orchestras in Europe and the United States.

Dr. Valentin Bogdan’s web page reports that as a composer, he has had his music performed in the United States as well as Europe at prestigious concert events. One such is Festival Miami in 2008, Downtown Community Concert Series in Miami. Another is FPPC Concert Series in Novi, Michigan. Also included is Varna Symphonic Workshop and Master class, Varna Bulgaria.

Valentin also maintains a close collaboration with the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). Besides his music being performed at a number of local events, he was also chosen to be the commissioned composer for the Florida State MTNA Annual Conference which will take place in 2010.

He currently serves as Organist and Choirmaster of First United Methodist Church of Miami and holds a position as professor in Miami.

Jefferson Campbell has distinguished himself over the last several years as a solo, chamber and orchestral musician on the bassoon. Dr. Campbell is currently the Assistant Professor of Bassoon and Music History at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, and serves on the artist faculty of Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Twin Lake, Michigan. He has been published in the Journal of the International Double Reed Society and presented and performed at the National Conference of the IDRS in 2003, 2006, and 2007.

He has wide experience as a performer in this country and abroad. Dr. Campbell has appeared as soloist in Kentucky, Nebraska, and North Carolina. In a tour of Germany his performance of Mozart's Symphonie Concertante[/l] in Berlin was widely acclaimed. He is winner of solo competitions in Kentucky and Nebraska.

Jefferson has enjoyed early success in his career. He has made solo appearances with the Bowling Green/Western Symphony. Dr. Campbell has held positions with orchestras in Kentucky, North Carolina, Virginia, Illinois, Oregon, Washington, and Nebraska as an orchestral musician. He was a member of the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra, and the Third Chair Chamber Players.

Jefferson Campbell holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Western Kentucky University, a Master of Music from the North Carolina School of the Arts, and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
