Michigan Cadillac Dealers May Face Traffic With 44,000 Cadillacs Being Recalled

February 23, 2011 Cars news in Detroit,Michigan, United States of America

Recently a defect was discovered in one Cadillac model from General Motors. Before any problems arise, GM has initiated a voluntary recall as most Michigan Cadillac dealers may be reporting.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Detroit, Michigan, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) February 23, 2011 -- DETROIT, M.I. – Michigan Cadillac dealers may have heard the announcement that General Motors has issued a recall of 44, 147 vehicles. There may be a problem with a wax coating on the rear suspension. General Motors sent the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration a letter to notify the company of the newly found possible defect.
The vehicle Michigan Cadillac dealers may begin to see more of in their service centers is the Cadillac CTS from the 2009-2010 model years. GM estimates no more than one of every 20 vehicles will need to be repaired.

The problem lies with the wax coating that is on the rear suspension toe link jam nuts. The wax may be causing the nuts to loosen. If the nuts loosen too much, it could cause the toe link to separate and would then give the rear wheel the ability to turn inboard and outboard. The end result would be the driver losing vehicle handling and the ability to control the vehicle; this will increase the risk of the driver and vehicle crashing.
It is possible for the owner to hear a metallic clanking noise where the rear suspension is located and are warned by Michigan Cadillac dealers to bring the vehicle right away if this occurs. At this point there have been no reports of injuries or accidents.

All owners should bring in their vehicles for a check on those parts, especially if they feel that their Cadillac is at risk or is making a metallic rattling sound. General Motors has not announced any owner notification schedule, but Michigan Cadillac dealers are standing by to conduct any repair work needed. Owners will have their wax residue cleaned from the rear suspension and have two new jam nuts installed. If needed, the rear suspension toe link may be replaced.
