Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights Celebrate 14th Annual Carpenters Christmas for Kids on Friday, December 17.
The Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights (MRCC) will host its 14th Carpenters’ Christmas for Kids holiday party for the children of Spain Dual School on Dec. 17 at 9 a.m.

The Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights (MRCC), under the leadership of Mike Jackson, executive secretary-treasurer, will host its 14th Carpenters’ Christmas for Kids holiday party for the children of Spain Dual School on Dec. 17 at 9 a.m.
Each December, the MRCC hosts a party for students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade at Spain Dual School, which is located near the union’s headquarters in Detroit. The highlight of this anticipated holiday party is a visit from Santa Claus followed by Carpenters Union members joining Santa to distribute gifts to the children.
The MRCC invites local dignitaries, celebrities, pro-athletes, and media to the event providing children with a memorable experience while also introducing students to new role models and expanding their aspirations for the future.
Special guests/speakers include:
Mike Jackson, Executive Secretary-Treasurer, Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights
Rich Davis, President, Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights
Dave Bing, Mayor of Detroit
Benny Napoleon, Wayne County Sheriff
Brenda Jones, Detroit City Councilwoman
Robert Ficano, Wayne County Executive
And, of course, Santa Claus
The MRCC adopted Spain Dual School after relocating its headquarters to Detroit in 1997. In addition to the holiday party, the MRCC has sponsored the school’s marching band trip to Africa, constructed a new dance floor for Spain’s performing arts department, and created secure storage for school equipment.
This year’s event takes place from 9-10:30 a.m. Guests are asked to arrive no later than 8:30 a.m. Spain Dual School is located at 3700 Beaubien at Mack, east of Woodward, north of Mack, near the Detroit Medical Center.
The MRCC represents over 18,000 journey persons and apprentice carpenters and millwrights across the State of Michigan. The Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights are known throughout the construction industry for their strong commitment to “giving back” to the community by playing an active role in donating their time, skill, and financial support to community and charity organizations.
