Microchipping cats demonstrate responsible pet ownership

July 13, 2010

In addition to increasing the likelihood of reuniting with your cat in case your precious cat lose his or her way, microchipping your cat will also ensure the safety of your cat at home.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) July 13, 2010 -- Nottingham, England (July 13, 2010) – Cats Protection, UK's leading feline welfare charity, highly recommends microchipping cats. According to Cats Protection, “Microchipping offers cats a safe and permanent method of identification and increases the chances of a lost feline being safely reunited with his owner.”

The feline welfare group added that microchipping is the most effective way to identify a lost cat as “chips don't come off or put the cat at risk of injury like collars can”.

Microchipping is an uncomplicated procedure. It's not more painful than an injection. A microchip, which is slightly smaller than a grain of rice, is inserted by a vet under the cat's skin and between the cat's shoulder blades. Once it is inserted, the cat will not be aware of the microchip's presence. Every microchip has an individual number that is stored on a national database. A scan of the microchip will reveal the owner's name and address from the database.

In addition to increasing the likelihood of reuniting with your cat in case your precious cat lose his or her way, microchipping your cat will also ensure the safety of your cat at home.

There have been numerous reports around the UK of bully and tom cats invading homes. These other cats – responsible for stealing resident cats' food, destroying furniture, spraying homes – have gained access to homes by way of ordinary cat flaps. Invading cats and resident cats have often run into cat fights – resulting to higher veterinary bills. Other resident cats have shown symptoms of stress and anxiety as a result.

Pet Porte Smart Flap, the world's first microchip sensing cat flap, will restore your home as a safe haven for your cat. Pet Porte Smart Flap works with your cat's pre-existing microchip implant. If your cat has no microchip implant yet, with this patent protected product, a microchip will be implanted in your cat. This first microchip sensing cat flap has a built-in scanner. Thus, at any time your cat gets near the cat flap, the scanner recognizes the microchip in your cat triggering the flap to open. In similar manner, if the scanner doesn't recognize a pre-programmed microchip such as bully cats trying to barge through the cat flap, the flap will never open.
