FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) March 23, 2010 --
Microsoft has announced that it is to partner with an annual conference which celebrates the role of women in the business, as this year the summit looks at the role of women in the technology sector.
The conference, which takes place in Oman every March, will provide a platform for the Women and Information and Communication Technology initiative currently being explored in the country.
Both Speakers at the conference and workshops taking place throughout the event will consider how the development of ICT in the business world allows for greater gender equality, through providing avenues to more flexible working.
This is increasingly being seen through developments in cloud computing and remote networking, which the conference will investigate as ways in which the sector can open up more jobs for women in technology.
As well as looking at women in the IT sector, the conference will also focus on how advances in digital management and national IT infrastructures have affected firms and the way in which business develops.
Salma al Hashmi, chief executive of public relations, events management and marketing communications consultancy firm Envent and founder of the annual Women in Business conference, said, "I am very excited about the partnership with Microsoft.
"They will bring to the conference all their experience and drive in helping and inspiring the next generation of business women and entrepreneurs in Oman to embrace information technology in the future."
Microsoft will serve as a technology partner for the conference, adding that the firm was keen to explore how women in business in the country can incorporate developments in the ICT sector to strengthen their businesses.
Last year's conference, entitled "Global Marketplace - Challenges & Opportunities" focused on the challenges faced in a modern and international business market, with speakers including Naashia Saud al Kharusi of Oman's Telecommunications Regulatory Authority and Rashidah Ali Hamood al Hamdani, the chairperson of the Women's National Committee.
Earlier this month, Ms al Hashmi issued a congratulations to the receivers of an annual Women in Business entrepreneurial award scheme, which went to the Layali Al Asalah fashion institution.
She said: "We congratulate Layali Al Asalah on receiving both the Sharakah sponsorship and the Intilaaqah award. The company deserves this recognition after the rapid growth it has experienced in the past year. It also gives me pleasure that an organisation run entirely by women has been recognised in this way."
The Women in Business conference will take place from March 30th to 31st.
