Microsoft turning it's back on Windows Xp users, now that's a strong statement. Microsoft, as most people are aware of, has released Internet Explorer 9 Beta, which does not support XP. Now I understand that you have to go with the "flow", I also understand that there are advancements it technology that older systems cannot keep up with. But then, I also realize that Microsoft may not be happy with the sales of their highly touted Vista, and Windows 7. Windows XP is used by 61% of people running a Windows OS. Sales of Vista and Windows 7 to business people have not been impressive due to cost of the Operating Systems, not to mention the reliability of XP--in other words--"If it ain't broke, don't fix it".
Now word has it that Microsoft will end all support of XP in 2014, that would be 13 years after XP was released. Internet Explorer 9 is touted to have many wonderful features that will make a great number of people trashcan IE 8 and head for the new version, those people will not be XP users, leaving XP customers to rely on browsers such as Google Chrome, and my favorite Firefox. I am totally happy with Firefox and have no desire to switch to IE 9, however, Microsoft has made that irrelevent due to the upcoming lack of support for Windows XP by Microsoft. Keep in mind that once support of XP has been dropped by Microsoft, others will follow--anti-virus etc. Example--when I had Windows 98, I was happy with it and only switched to XP when there was no Anti-Virus program available for Windows 98 anymore, kinda forcing me to buy a new O.S.
XP has proven, without a doubt, to be the most popular Windows operating system, and considered by many to the "King" of operating systems, which the new and upcoming O.S.'s will be little more than offspring--a new and improved version. The mere fact that XP is used by the mass majority of Windows users is info enough to determine that Vista and Windows 7, even with the Bells and Whistles that they come with, still cannot overthrow XP. Vista has had plenty of time to gain on XP and has failed.
So, my question is simple. The creation of this super browser, Internet Explorer 9 ( which hasn't been tested enough to find flaws if any exist), and Microsofts upcoming lack of support for XP, is this merely a way of putting XP "On the Shelf", and giving you the choice of buying a new O.S. or---buying a new O.S.? I know--You can't stand in the way of progress, especially when progress is geared towards the dollar bill. Hey---it's just my opinion, I'm sure you have yours!
