Student Tries to Change the World with Million Dollar Project
Welcome visit Our WebSite:
http://www.million-dollar-project.com Three months ago, Chris Pavlich made the decision to join 25 of his peers on a trip to study abroad in Prague. When he saw that the program came with a $10,000 price tag, Chris decided to start his own internet business. He created the Million Dollar Project in hopes of not only funding his study abroad trip, but allowing him to graduate from college entirely debt-free and start his own non-profit. "I don't like the idea of graduating with a huge student debt any more than any other student, but I’ve decided to do something about it now instead of waiting to pay off loans for half of my life!"
The idea is simple: Make one million dollars by selling 1,000,000 pixels for $1 each. Everyone is welcome to buy pixels, which are available in 100-pixel blocks (10x10 pixels). There are 10,000 blocks and, thus, 1,000,000 pixels in total. When sponsors buy pixels, they can then display an image of their choice in the space they have purchased. They can also have the image click through to their own website. Chris guarantees to keep this site online for at least 5 years, but hopefully much longer because of its success. He has grossed an impressive $5,300 to date (updated 3/29).
Where did Chris come up with this idea? Well, he is actually trying to replicate the million dollar success of a British student, Alex Tew, in 2005. Alex was one of the first people to use pixel advertising and it was his website, The Million Dollar Homepage, that made pixel advertising a viral, cost efficient marketing tool. This is one case where he hopes that lightning does strike twice. One important tool that Chris has, which Alex did not, is social media. Chris is utilizing Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Tumblr, and Wordpress.
Is it really worth advertising on the Million Dollar Project? Absolutely! Pixel advertising is an effective, low cost way to advertise a business or organization. Unlike pay-per-click advertising, only one purchase is necessary for the Million Dollar Project. So, if the costs are allocated over at least 5 years, the advertising cost is negligible. Also, Chris is monitoring the site and all of its social media outlets daily to maximize the promotion of his sponsors' businesses.
Most of all, it is advertising with a cause! Chris plans to start a non-profit called "The Charity Network" (© 2012). Of course, it is called “The Charity Network” because it does have something to do with "The Social Network." He hopes to create an integration with the Facebook platform that would make it simple for all users on Facebook to donate to charities of their choice, see how and where their money is being used in the world, and link up with friends in global initiatives. It will harness the power of social networking to change the world in a big way with small contributions from everyone. Imagine the possibilities if all 850+ million users donated a single dollar!
Imagine a world without poverty. Imagine a world where no child in the world cries out with hunger at night. Imagine a world where the words "poor" and "hungry" are only used in history books. Chris asks, "Why do we, as human beings, let the one billion starving poor suffer at the expense of the six billion? Why do we stop their vocabulary at the word 'survive' when they deserve to 'thrive'?" It is estimated that extreme poverty can be eradicated with $175 billion dollars. That is only a third of the annual US Defense budget! Starvation can be eliminated with only $45 billion dollars. Bill Gates could eradicate hunger all on his own! He has tried. Many of the six billion have tried. Yet, the one billion are still there with empty stomachs and empty hands. Solving these global issues is by no means a quick fix, but Chris hopes to start some real change. As he points out, "If citizens of third world countries can stop worrying about the food and water they eat and drink every day, they can move on to build a thriving economy. Thus, any money put into eliminating poverty will be paid back many-fold by bringing new countries into the global economy." It goes without saying that he is very passionate about this cause. It has been a goal of his for many years to start his own non-profit and he hopes this is his chance.
The future looks bright for this young entrepreneur and the world definitely stand to benefit from Chris' efforts. Go onto his site below and see what all the buzz is about!
