Mindless Behavior Selects the Cope Dancers from the William E. Cope Branch of Boys & Girls Club of Metro Denver as Winners of “Just Dance, Just Give”—the Online Video Dance Competition hosted by CauseBeats.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Denver, Colorado, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) August 1, 2011 -- Denver, CO – (August 1, 2011) – CauseBeats, a Denver-based not-for-profit organization that develops and manages cause campaigns for popular recording artists, today announced the finalists and winner of its first national online video dance contest with MTV “Artists to Look Out For” Mindless Behavior, and Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver, called “Just Dance, Just Give.”

The online search for Denver’s “Ultimate Mindless Dancer” was open to Boys & Girls Clubs members in Denver ages 13-18, and encouraged youth to showcase their dance skills and get involved in community service projects over their summer break.

In order to participate, Boys & Girls Clubs kids selected their favorite Mindless Behavior song, videotaped themselves performing a choreographed routine and then submitted their entries online. Ten finalists were chosen by the public through the online voting platform. The “Ultimate Mindless Dancers” were selected from the ten finalists by Mindless Behavior based on both dance skills and community service contributions.

Mindless Behavior selected the Cope Dance Crew from the William E. Cope Branch as the “Ultimate Mindless Dancers.” The team, consisting of JJ, Jessica and SirDevon, performed a routine they choreographed to “Mrs. Right” and completed a service project at the Cope Boys & Girls Club.

Said SirDevon, “For our service project, we re-painted the benches out front that had been tagged and ruined. We felt that because of the ugly benches, people had concerns about our club and the safety for kids. Now they look better than ever!”

The three also participated in community service projects throughout the city including volunteering at the church food bank (SirDevon), volunteering daily at the Cope branch to serve lunch and assist staff (JJ) as well as teaching kids how to play rugby and the Alto Saxaphone at a local recreation center (Jessica). Continued SirDevon, “ We think helping out in our community makes us better in many ways—it helps us to become better leaders for the future and we can inspire the young people who look up to us.”

The Cope Dance Crew Team wins a Mindless Party at their Branch this school year, hosted by Mindless Behavior. The winning routine and essay can be viewed by visiting http://causebeats.org/project/mrs-right-3/.

Finalists Include:
Spartan Dancers – Robert M. Shopneck Branch
#1 Girl – Boettcher Branch
Janely, Jennifer & Lysette – Jefferson Co. Branch
Just Hanging Out – Denver Broncos Branch
Beguedyl –Jefferson County Branch
Boettcher Eagles – Boettcher Branch
Broncos Girls – Denver Broncos Branch

Participants completed volunteer service projects that reached far into their communities including reading to younger children, volunteering to help the elderly, community clean up efforts, tending to community gardens, working with children with Downs Syndrome, assisting with clothing and food drives, serving meals to the homeless, assisting at community food banks and teaching younger children how to play sports and musical
instruments. To learn more about how Boys & Girls Clubs members give back to the community visit www.GreatFuturesDenver.org.

The competition and service project kicked off its pilot program on June 15th at the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Denver and rolls out nationally to the top ten Boys & Girls Clubs locations in cities along the Mindless Behavior tour this fall. Club members and local youth in participating cities can get involved by visiting www.causebeats.org.

This project was particularly relevant for Ray Ray, Roc Royal, Prodigy and Princeton of Mindless Behavior for two reason: First, the boys are committed to Boys & Girls Clubs on a national level and second, all four are dancers and have just released their second single, “Mrs. Right.
