Mine gets a clean sweep with Goscor Road Sweeper
Goscor Cleaning Equipment (GCE), part of the Goscor Group of Companies, has supplied R3,2-million worth of machinery to one of South Africa’s largest cleaning companies, Servest, for the purpose of maintaining hygienic conditions at a ferrochrome mining

Five years ago Servest acquired a Sentinel cleaning unit to clean up the dust and general dirt that emanated from the mining activities, and, impressed with the product, GCE’s excellent client service and acute understanding of the cleaning environment, it has now ordered two new Sentinels.
“Health and safety standards are imperative to Servest and their client, so we had to provide them with one of the highest quality, safest and most reliable machines at a reasonable rate and the Sentinel road sweepers fitted the bill perfectly,” says Hilton van Vuuren, GCE industrial sales specialist.
He adds that companies are becoming more and more aware of the importance of hygienic occupational environments. “Companies, such as Servest realise that clean working spaces are not only important for the environment, but also for workers’ productivity and general morale.”
“Ineffective cleaning can cost significantly more in the long term. The plan to enforce the revised “Air Quality Act” through licensed control of emissions will further burden the cost of manufacturing if effective controls around fugitive dust are not employed. With the correct system, the dust is collected safely and clean air emitted via an on-board filter system while the floor is being swept,” Van Vuuren says.
The sentinel road sweepers are high performers with a unique twin vacuum design, says Van Vuuren. “The Sentinel dust control system meets the most stringent PM-10 environmental requirements—without unsurpassed maneuverability. Sentinel will slip under low clearances, weave in and out of obstacles, down alleyways, and over thoroughfares. With a height of just 100 in / 2540 mm, the machine gives operators a clear view of the sweeping area to maximise safety and enable concentration on the job at hand.”
GCE ensures that all cleaning machinery remains in good shape and that cleaning consumables are replaced quickly and efficiently. “We understand fully that downtime is our customer’s number one enemy and our job is to help minimise this to the best of our ability,” says Van Vuuren.
