Toronto, Canada – GAO Fiber Optics (www.GAOFiberOptics.com) has released this mini handheld optical power meter which is one of the smallest test equipment in the fiber optic industry. It is commonly used for absolute power and relative loss measurements of optical fibers. This easy to use handheld optical power meter used with GAO’s 5203 mini handheld light source provide a portable testing pair as an effective testing solution for fiber optical networks. It is well-suited for use in applications such as telecommunication and CATV maintenance and fiber optic test labs. This mini handheld optical power meter belongs to GAO‘s Power Meter family of products.

This optical power meter, model 5301, has an InGaAs detector and displays optical power in mw, dB and dBm. It covers wavelengths from 800 to 1700 nm with calibrated wavelengths at 850, 980, 1310, and 1550 nm. This mini optical power meter provides various measurement ranges for different demands including -60 to 3 dBm, -50 to 10 dBm, -40 to 20 dBm, and -30 to 30 dBm at an accuracy of ± 5%. It also has a 2.5 mm universal optical adapter that can easily connect to FC, SC and ST connectors. It communicates with a computer through an RS232 interface or a USB port for data exchange. The power meter features auto power off and low power consumption and works continuously for up to 360 hours with three 1.5 V batteries. All these features together with its compact size make it a valuable tool for field technicians.
