Miss Black Illinois USA 2010 is here! Meet Danielle Noel Riley, your 2010 Miss Black Illinois USA. She is 22 years old and determined to make a difference! A graduating Spanish major at Chicago State University, she has an insatiable passion for making positive changes. She is the Director of Promotions for WCSU Radio, Homecoming Duchess 2009, Homecoming Princess 2008, 2005-2006 Presidential Scholar, D.I.S.T.I.N.C.T. model, multi-time rap battle champion, part-time non-school affiliated Spanish tutor, 2008 Men’s Track & Field Manager, and a campus event production assistant. She attended and graduated from Timothy Christian High School in Elmhurst, IL, where she excelled in a variety of departments. She obtained leadership roles within Drama Club, Black History Month Committee, choir, and her sports teams. She also excelled academically in her AP and honors courses as well as being apart of Senior Honor Society.

Being multi-faceted, she loves the fine arts as well as athletics. She is active in singing, dancing, rapping, radio, television/audio/film production and editing, modeling, event planning, and fashion. She also plays basketball regularly and ensures that fitness is a daily regiment in her life. She has been apart of interscholastic athletics since 6th grade receiving regional, sectional, and statewide recognition as well as conference champion recognition multiple times. She also competed in cross country/ track & field for NCAA division I athletics.

She is the founder of the A Work of Heart campaign which is a program to encourage young people to use their talents in the arts as well as athletics to help others and make a difference. She has been working with youth in varying organizations to help them develop their love and skills in their craft anywhere from basketball to music. The A Work of Heart campaign will cultivate the dreams that the youth of our nation have and help them become reality. Our young people are the future. Danielle, also known as Heart, formerly of Creation Footworkingz, is using her innovation and ingenuity to make positive changes, one day at a time. The members of her program will be producing products such as albums, clothing lines, DVDs, websites, and events to raise money for cancer research as well as other noble causes.

Her platform is raising cancer awareness and empowering those affected by cancer. Her platform is very personal, having lost her great grandmother, grandfather, uncle, aunt, and many close family friends to this disease. The hardest loss was that of her aunt in September of 2009. More specifically, Danielle wants to emphasize the importance of getting tested because early-detection can make a very large difference in the fight against cancer. She also wants to raise awareness about how oxygenation of bodily cells, a healthy diet, and sufficient exercise truly makes a difference in not only preventing cancer, but also in weakening cancerous cells promoting physical recovery.
