FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Los Angeles, California, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) February 4, 2011 -- Love or hate your cell phone it's hard to imagine life without it. Now, mobile users should be cautious of a new health risk from increased cell phone usage.

In a segment titled “Carrying Cell Phones and Germ Cells” Good Morning America consumer correspondent Elisabeth Leamy and environmental science researcher Sherry Carlino team up to test the mobile phones for germs. Their reserach found that over half of the phones tested carried an unacceptable level of bacteria, while those who actively cleaned their cell phones had much better results.

“Researchers have found the flu virus, staph infection, MRSA, and more on mobile phones" according to the report. GMA’s Elisabeth Learny warns mobile users of these health risks as cell phones have become constant companions and extensions of our hands, following us to bed, to work, and even to the bathroom. Last fall CBS News conducted a similar study of germ buildup on cell phones and cited a case of actual MRSA contraction from a mobile device.

THE SOLUTION

What can be done to fight this new health risk? Since reducing use of mobile phones is not an option, and in fact is projected to steadily increase through 2014 and beyond, CleenCell® Wipes (www.cleanmycellphone.com) out of Los Angeles has initiated the Mobile Hygiene Program to bring awareness to the topic, especially in hospitals and food handling facilities.

The makers pre-moistened wipes with disinfectant solution specifically designed to be safe on cell phones and smartphones have an excited customer following from health conscious tech-savvy moms and text happy teens and young adults who send and receive close to 100 text messages per day.

The CleenCell® Mobile Hygiene Program is now working with infection prevention departments to develop system-wide cell phone cleaning guidelines, educational programs, and solutions to reduce infection risks in hospitals as smartphones and tablet computers become staple tools for medical professionals.

The Mobile Hygiene Program offers consultation about germs on cell phones of hospital staff, posters for employee lounges, and CleenCell® Wipes for the staff’s devices. Those interested in working with the Mobile Hygiene Program, including researchers, should contact info@cleanmycellphone(dot)com.
