Oil Speculators are Giddity with Excitement at the Prospect of Middle East Unrest
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) January 29, 2011 --
Please support US Senator Sherrod Brown's fight against Oil Speculators. If the Egyptian government fails, the fear of a domino effect in the region (particularly in Saudia Arabia) could help oil speculators send crude oil (and related commodity prices) through the roof.
Egypt itself does not export any significant amount of crude oil, still oil prices jumped 4.5% Friday anyway. Wouldn't it be more efficient if only those businesses (and other entities) that actually use crude oil would be the only ones allowed to buy oil? That however is not how it works and most oil contracts are actually bought by funds, banks and private investors that typically don’t even want to take delivery of the oil, but instead usually sell it electronically, or in hard copy, like folks sell stocks and bonds.
Consumers will likely act with shock as they did when oil speculators brought up oil prices in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. Driving likely will be curtailed so online/ interactive TV use may increase perhaps, depending on deployments and price, etc. As too much of an oil price increase could be recessionary then perhaps the opposite will occur.
Time will tell.
